Louis Roederer

The Brut Rosé 2003 has a stream of lively, delicate bubbles; pink tones with orange, almost ochre highlights; and a rich, intense, distinctly red-fruit nose (strawberries, cherries) with sweet floral notes (white flowers) and almost a whiff of stewed fruit. The bouquet is neat, honest and precise. Its charming palate is savory at first, with a soft, almost caressing texture that gives an impression of great finesse and precision. The mouth feel is fabulously light, fresh and fruity – the complete antithesis of the ripe, warm, dry conditions that characterized this vintage. The wine opens up within seconds to reveal all of its generous volume and substance. Flesh and freshness combine to produce a vinosity that lingers eternally on the finish. This is an irresistibly airy Champagne. Thanks to its structure and vinosity, Louis Roederer Brut Rosé is an excellent accompaniment to meals and the perfect accompaniment to fish (salmon in particular) or meats such as lamb, veal, guinea-fowl or even pheasant. To round off the meal, Brut Rosé is an ideal complement to creamy cheeses such as a ripe Chaource or a Brillat Savarin, or the sharpness of a soft fruit pudding such as a sabayon.

Wine Enthusiast

A pure, fresh line runs through this delicate rosé. It shows more white fruits than red, just hinting at red currants, but more of fresh white berries. There is just some hint of sweetness, more from the fruit of 2003 than from any extra dosage.

Score: 92. —Roger Voss, December 01, 2008.

Wine Spectator

This is well-balanced and combines strawberry, cherry and watermelon flavors with a vibrant structure and a rich texture. All the elements are there, and this should develop well. Moderate length. Drink now through 2018.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, November 30, 2008.

Wine Advocate

he estate’s 2003 Brut Rose is a very delicate rose, in fact it is one of the more understated roses I tasted. The color is a light tone of salmon. Layers of sweet perfumed fruit flow onto the palate effortlessly as this sexy, feminine wine opens up in the glass. This is a fairly accessible style of rose, but it has the signature Roederer finesse in spades. The 2003 Brut Rose is 70% Pinot Noir from Cumieres and 30% Chardonnay from Mesnil, Avize and Oger. This is Lot: 030993C 100006, disgorged January 17th, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
