Didier Dagueneau

Low in alcohol (11.5%), this wine is packed full of chalky, flinty minerals opening up to citrus and melon fruit aromatics after breathing. The texture in the mouth is pure Dagueneau. Lean initially, but more and more beguiling with each taste. This wine is similar in style to the excellent 2007 with just a bit more roundness in the middle due to excellent weather during harvest.

Wine Advocate

The Dagueneau 2008 Blanc Fume de Pouilly smells of lemon and caraway, which along with nettle, chalk, and salt make for an invigorating, bright, whistle clean and handsomely lean expose of its grape and terroir. This sends shivers up my spine, though it will no doubt be a bit too lean and bracing for some tasters. It should serve well for at least the next 2-3 years.

Score: 90. —David Schildknecht, August 2010.
